Traditionally
enjoyed by vacation guests from around the world, Disney’s Contemporary Resort,
with its fresh look and expanded convention facilities, now is attracting more
association and corporate groups than ever before.
To meet demands for quality meeting space, the landmark, 1,041-room Walt Disney
World resort has been expanded to offer more than 120,000 square feet of space,
and the existing hotel has been completely renovated.
The convention center, designed by noted architect Gwathmey-Siegal of New York,
connects to the Americas Level on the second-floor main building. Focal point
of the facility is the Fantasia Ballroom, featuring 44,800 feet of space. It
can accommodate 4,670 in theater-style seating or 3,100 for banquets.
The Fantasia Ballroom subdivides into 15 meeting rooms. . . or it can be used
for trade shows and exhibitions, accommodating up to 295 8-by-10-foot booths.
Convenient truck access, including a loading dock and roll-up doors, permits
easy set up and removal of exhibits.
Also located in the main convention center is the 7,068-square-foot Nutcracker
Ballroom, which accommodates 850 theater style and 540 in rounds of 10. In
total, the new facility can provide up to 23 break-out rooms.
The convention center expansion was combined with an extensive refurbishment of
existing convention space, lobby, guest-registration area, guest rooms and
suites.
Public areas at the Contemporary have been updated with curved linear shapes,
vibrant colors, textures and designs. Indirect lighting opens up the space and
sets a modernistic mood.
Renovation of meeting space in the main building also was recently completed.

dinner in a new-age setting; California Grill, offering market inspired cuisine
and an on-stage kitchen; and Chef Mickey’s, a character buffet dining experience.

the banks of Bay Lake, offering guests a spectacular view of Cinderella Castle.
The resort is like no other in the world, with a monorail that runs through the
fourth floor concourse transporting guests to Disney theme parks. Other
